FAQ's
What is
hypnosis? No one can precisely
define hypnosis. Hypnosis is a definition of a state of mind in
which something can be done. Hypnosis
itself neither cures nor changes anything. It is a
learning process and a method of
concentration that most of us have. It can be a vehicle of
change if suggestions are given to
assist an individual in altering or changing their basic habits of
living.
Will I be awake and
remember my experience? Yes;
you will be fully conscious at all times and will remember exactly what
happened; never will you be unconscious
or asleep. Most people find the whole experience pleasant,
relaxing, and enjoyable.
Can everyone
achieve a state of hypnosis?
Almost everyone who wants to be hypnotized can achieve some depth level of
hypnosis. There are exceptions but once
a person realizes they are not controlled by the
hypnotist, but rather guided by him,
most people will willingly participate. It can be suggested to you,
for example to think of the feeling in
your right foot but nobody can make you do that.
So the reality is that you are the real
worker and the hypnotist is just the guide.
Can I ask questions
about hypnosis before the actual
experience? Certainly. We will
give you complete information on hypnosis as it pertains to your
problem, and tell you what kinds of
things you can anticipate. Some of those common questions
are listed here and you can ask any
further questions you like. We would like every client to
enter into the experience with a full
understanding of it.
If I’m
nervous, what can I do to prepare for the
session? Nothing. Most people
are a little nervous over just about any kind of new experience,
and hypnosis is no exception to this
ordinary rule. Just come with a willingness to
participate and after the education any
fears you had will have been put to rest. Afterwards, you will
feel perfectly normal and probably
refreshed a little. You will be able to drive, talk, and react to
all the things around you in your own
customary way.
Can hypnosis be
guaranteed? Regretfully,
no and you should not believe anyone who states otherwise. Your own desire
and commitment to fulfill the
suggestions remains the most important element in your success.
Can I bring someone
with me to the session? You may
bring someone to wait for you but we urge you to go the hypnosis
alone. Hypnosis requires an ability to
focus ones concentration, so any additional people
in the room could adversely affect your
capability to do this.
Is
hypnosis a new and untested technique?
No. The literature on hypnosis goes all
the way back into classical antiquity. It is quite
possible that Socrates achieved his
remarkable self-command through some kind of self-hypnosis.
The only new part is the development of
more scientific and controlled methods for bringing
the benefits of hypnosis to large
numbers of people who can gain from it.
